National MP Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga has accepted an explanation from former Labour MP Richard Northey about allegations he rifled through papers at the opening of Mr Lotu-Iiga's Maungakiekie electorate office.
Mr Lotu-Iiga said he dropped the issue yesterday after speaking with Mr Northey about the paper-rifling incident.
"He has reassured me of his version of events and I'm going to leave it at that and move on," said the first-term MP and Auckland City councillor.
Mr Northey, a guest of Mr Lotu-Iiga at the opening of his electorate office in Onehunga Mall on Friday, told the Herald the allegations were nonsense.
All he had done was pick up a couple of invitations with the approval of Mr Lotu-Iiga's electorate secretary.
"I certainly didn't do any rifling through anything at all," Mr Northey said.
