KEY POINTS:
Sir John Anderson has been appointed chairman of the New Zealand Venture Investment Fund (NZVIF), Economic Development Minister Pete Hodgson announced today.
Sir John was recently appointed chairman of the crisis-stricken Capital and Coast District Health Board. He is also chairman of TVNZ and New Zealand Cricket and is a director of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
Mr Hodgson said Sir John was a hugely respected business and community leader with the expertise to take NZVIF through its next development phase.
The NZVIF is a Crown-owned company that manages a $160 million capital venture fund and a $40 million co-investment fund.
Sir John's appointment follows the resignation in July last year of Chris de Boer. Since then Peter Taylor has been acting chairman, and he will resume the position of deputy chairman.
Sir John's appointment was effective on January 1 and runs to June 30, 2010.
