KEY POINTS:
Privacy Commissioner Marie Shroff has been reappointed for a five year term.
Associate Minister of Justice Lianne Dalziel announced the reappointment today saying Ms Shroff had been highly effective in improving the service provided by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Ms Shroff's first term of appointment expires later this month.
The Privacy Commissioner is an independent Crown entity.
The role of the commissioner is to promote and protect individual privacy.
