Whether Oamaru police lay charges in relation to the car crash that claimed the life of South Canterbury financier Allan Hubbard will be known within two weeks.
The 83-year-old died when the car driven by his wife Jean, 82, was involved in a head-on collision with a four-wheel-drive utility towing a trailer on State Highway One just north of Oamaru on September 2.
The ute was being driven by Andy Earl, 40, of Richmond.
At the time Mr Earl said he could not remember anything about the collision. Mrs Hubbard also said she couldn't remember the crash.
Mr Hubbard's company, Aorangi Securities, was being investigated by the Serious Fraud Office. Aorangi Securities was placed in statutory management in June 2010, owing investors up to $100 million.
