Marianne Cavanagh will get an international perspective on local government after being awarded an overseas exchange.
The Whanganui District Council principal adviser will head to Queensland in Australia later this year to work at the Western Downs Regional Council which will send one of its staff to Whanganui in return.
Cavanagh was awarded the exchange at the NZ Society of Local Government Managers' (SOLGM) annual gala dinner in Auckland recently.
The exchange focuses on leadership and development in the local government environment.
"Marianne demonstrated not only what she could gain from an exchange, but also the best experience she could provide as a host," SOLGM manager of professional development Fiona Purchas said.
