There are two new electorates in this election, the boundaries of several others have changed, and some electorates have been renamed although they cover substantially the areas as in 1999.
Electorates with less than 70 per cent of their 1999 voters are described in our Electorate Results as "REDRAWN ELECTORATE" with no incumbent shown.
An MP whose redrawn electorate still covers at least 70 percent of his/her 1999 electorate, is shown as the incumbent.
The election night count is a preliminary count, since it includes only the votes of those who voted in the electorate on election day and the special votes of those who voted in their electorate before election day. It does not include other special votes - those cast outside the electorate in New Zealand and overseas, and Tangata Whenua votes - since these votes have not yet been received by the appropriate Returning Officer.
