KEY POINTS:
Prime Minister Helen Clark is to have an informal meeting with new Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in Brisbane on Sunday.
"New Zealand and Australia have a very close and wide-ranging relationship and it is important that the nature of that relationship is set from the top by the two prime ministers," Miss Clark said.
"I am pleased to be meeting Kevin Rudd so early in his term as prime minister."
