The Retirement Commissioner wants to change the name of the commission to better reflect its work.
But the options offered in a select committee hearing yesterday - Waiting For God and The Golden Years - were not much better.
Commissioner Diana Crossan said promoting financial literacy and stability was the goal of the commission and people phoned it falsely believing it could help with housing and health issues. She has been calling for a name change for seven years but no one has come up with a suitable, or suitable length, name.
The commission runs the Sorted financial advice website and provides financial information through schools, tertiary education, workplaces and to over-60s.
