A group of politicians have been welcomed on to Waitangi's Te Tii Marae.
It included Act Party Leader David Seymour, and leader of the opportunities party Gareth Morgan.
Labour leader Andrew Little is due to appear soon with broadcaster Willie Jackson to confirm Jackson's list candidacy with Labour.
The politicianswill spend some time in the marae and will later speak at a political forum on the grounds.
Earlier, a bus load of ambassadors, high commissioners and other diplomats were welcomed on to the marae.
The large police presence that was evident yesterday during the visit of Governor General Dame Patsy Reddy has disappeared for now.
Deputy Prime Minister Paula Bennett is due in Waitangi later in the day to represent the Government at official events this evening and tomorrow but will not be calling into Te Tii Marae.
