A policewoman was thrown from a stolen car as she tried to stop a burglar driving off.
Police today continued to hunt for the offender suspected of breaking into a central city business about 7.30pm.
The female officer is recovering in Auckland Hospital.
As the man tried to drive off, the woman constable reached into the car and tried to pull on the handbrake and take the keys.
But he accelerated away, throwing her to the ground.
Police said she hit her head on a metal grating, slicing it open.
The constable is expected to undergo tests this morning but is reported to be recovering well.
