A police suspect managed to drive 50m with a police officer hanging out of his car's passenger window during a pursuit yesterday.
After a short chase through Feilding about 1pm, the man allegedly attempted to escape on foot over farmland before returning to his car.
Constable Brendon Gerrish saw the passenger window was open, threw himself through it, and "took control of the situation".
The 25-year-old managed to drive "about 50 metres or so", before an arrest was made.
The man was one of two suspected to have been holding equipment taken in a burglary of Palmerston North Music on Sunday.
About half of the $40,000 worth of equipment taken during the burglary has been recovered.
A 25-year-old man was to appear in Palmerston North District Court today charged with receiving stolen property, reckless driving, driving while disqualified and escaping police custody.
