A Wairarapa police constable charged with assault was granted interim name suppression when he appeared in Masterton District Court yesterday.
The charge relates to an incident involving the use of pepper spray while he was on duty on March 12.
The officer, who has been stood down from duty, entered no plea and was remanded by Judge June Johnston to reappear in court next Tuesday.
