A police officer was allegedly bitten on the chest by a man after turning up to investigate a protection order breach in Hastings.
Police were called to a house in Hastings, about 7pm on Saturday after reports of a man breaching the protection order.
"He bit one of our staff on the chest," Senior Sergeant Mike O'Leary said.
The officer was not seriously injured.
A 36-year-old Hastings man has been arrested and held in custody.
He will appear in Hastings District Court today charged with breaching a protection order, trespass, assaulting a police officer, possession of cannabis and resisting arrest.
