KEY POINTS:
Police and an ESR clandestine laboratory team have spent the afternoon at the scene of a suspicious fire in rural Waikato but say it's too early to say what may have caused it.
Emergency services were called to the Tauwhare property early this morning following reports of loud bangs there.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Whitehead of the Hamilton police said while the incident was being treated as suspicious, no arrests had been made by this afternoon and he didn't want to speculate on what may have caused the fire.
"It's probably going to be one of those ones that until I get an analysis from ESR I'm not going to know which way it goes," he said.
Those results were not expected to be available for another couple of days.
