As thousands flock to popular holiday destinations police and lifeguards will be patrolling beaches at summer hot spots to ensure everybody has a fun, safe time.
Police will be on patrol at Riversdale and Castlepoint beaches throughout the holiday period.
Wairarapa Area Commander Inspector Brent Register said one police officer would be stationed at Riversdale and Castlepoint between Christmas and New Year as usual.
"It's in recognition of the community and knowing that the population swells at the beaches.
"It's re-assuring the community that police will be available." Mr Register said the main issues which came up at the beach spots were the dangerous use of quad bikes and alcohol.
