Robberies have increased in central city parks, prompting Auckland police to issue a tough message to offenders - you will be caught.
The public are also being called on to do their bit to cut crime by keeping themselves safe and well away from the opportunistic robbers.
In the past two months, the number of robberies in parks in Auckland's CBD has spiked, with offenders targeting handbags, phones, iPods, MP3 players and cameras.
Inspector Naila Hassan said police were targeting those areas in a bid to catch the robbers and prevent more harm. "We will not tolerate you victimising our community," she said.
