Police are warning motorists travelling near the Homer Tunnel in Fiordland to take extreme care as treacherous road conditions have already caused two crashes.
Police said they were at the scene of the first crash on State Highway 94 at the Homer Tunnel, where a vehicle rolled injuring two people at around 12 pm today.
At 1.35pm a second vehicle crashed at the same place, with two people receiving minor injuries.
Officers urged all motorists travelling on that section of the road to take extreme care with the icy, wintry road conditions.
Motorists should adjust their speed and following distances to the road and weather conditions.
