If you want to sell cannabis or other illegal substances on Facebook the Waikato police have a message for you: that's probably not your best idea.
In a Facebook post, the district police unit brought up the "touchy subject" of cannabis popping up on social media buy andsell pages.
Using an example of a bust they made through such a page, the police warned they were actively monitoring the pages and carrying out search warrants regularly.
"Here is a an example of one that the crew and I executed today," an officer wrote, with an accompanying set of pictures, including one of a bag of cannabis buds and one of a gun.
"Not the worst of crims but if you want to sell anything illegal in broad day light (on the internet) do not be surprised if we come looking.
"The sad thing about this example it's that the grandparents are at home having to pick up the pieces. So if you aren't concerned about getting caught at least be a bit more respectful for those you live with."
The post closed with a request for the public to report illegal goods or substances for sale on buy and sell pages to page administrators.
