Victims of theft could get their stolen property back for Christmas after an organised crime bust in Wellington.
Police say they recovered a large amount of stolen goods in a district-wide operation that began in October.
It ended on November 24 with raids that saw eight men arrested and charged with participating in an organised crime group, burglary, receiving stolen goods, theft of motor vehicles, possession and cultivation of a Class C controlled drug (cannabis) and offering to supply it.
Detective Sergeant Steve Dunn says he wants to return all the stolen goods to their rightful owners by Christmas.
"A significant quantity has been identified and returned to its rightful owners, however there are a number of readily identifiable items police hope to return in time for Christmas."
Property seized in the November raids included about 300 shotgun rounds, four stolen vehicles and a motorcycle, flat screen televisions, laptops and other household electrical items.
Unclaimed items include a set of family wetsuits, two distinctive golf bags, a jewellery box with various items and an antique ring set.
Detective Sergeant Dunn says inside one of the golf bags were green fees paid for two UK golf clubs - Naunton Downs and Aldenham.
"We hope this will trigger someone's memory and we'll be able to reunite owners with their prized possessions as soon as possible."
