Police investigating the murder of a Napier mother are appealing for information on two cars seen in the area.
Chattrice Maihi-Carroll's naked body was found by her sister in her Cottrell Crescent home in the Napier suburb of Onekawa on January 21.
The mother of four adult children lived alone. She was stabbed many times and may also have been sexually assaulted.
The two cars were seen outside Ms Maihi-Carroll's house.
Police said today they wanted to find the drivers so they could be eliminated from the investigation.
Inquiry chief Detective Inspector Sam Aberahama said it was important that the owners of the vehicles came forward.
One of the cars was a brown-gold Ford Telstar hatchback TX5 or similar model. It had a sunroof with white duct tape running around the outside edge of it.
It was seen around 9.30pm on January 20 parked across the driveway leading to the rear entrance of the block of flats where Ms Maihi-Carroll lived.
There were two people in the car. The driver, a male Maori in his early 30s, skinny and clean shaven and with short dark hair, and a male Maori in his early 30s with short dark hair.
The other car was a dark green Toyota Estima people mover 1995 model or similar, with black moulded roof racks.
It was seen parked at the top of the driveway behind Ms Maihi-Carroll's block of flats, also on January 20 between 8.30pm and 9.15pm.
