KEY POINTS:
Legal argument over a manslaughter charge against Arcanie Vincent Optetaia Matagi has been put off to March 17 after a change of defence counsel.
Matagi, 26, earlier pleaded guilty to a charge of dangerous driving causing death of a woman while street racing.
He originally faced a manslaughter charge but pleaded guilty when the lesser charge was laid.
However, the manslaughter charge has never been withdrawn and the police have indicated they wish to proceed with it.
Legal argument on the matter was set for today before Christchurch District Court Judge Jane Farish, but was delayed at the request of Tony Garrett, who is taking over Matagi's defence, the Christchurch News website reported.
Judge Farish granted the remand and imposed a blanket suppression on all submissions and discussions before the court today.
