Police want help to identify man hit by train

Police are asking for help in identifying a man who was killed when he was struck by a train in the Manawatu yesterday.

The man was lying between the tracks near the Maewa station, north of Feilding, when a northbound freight train rounded a bend and hit him about 9pm, Sergeant Michael Lawton said.

Anyone with information regarding the man's identity was asked to contact police.
