Landlords are being urged to report suspected P-labs on their properties to the police.
Wellington police are worried at the increasing number of methamphetamine laboratories being set up in rental properties.
They are also concerned about toxic waste from the labs being dumped in the public rubbish collection.
The Real Estate Institute says P-labs are becoming an increasingly common nightmare for landlords.
President Howard Morley says seminars are being run to advise property owners what to look for.
He says P-labs can be packed up and stored pretty quickly, and are not always picked up at house inspections.
Howard Morley says any landlord who suspects their house is being used to make P, should call the police straight away.
