Police are replacing their handcuffs with larger versions that will better fit "plus-sized clients".
The new cuffs were revealed in the latest issue of police magazine Ten One.
Police said the new cuffs could still be tightened as much as the current cuffs, "to ensure slimmer-wristed offenders are also catered for".
Sergeant Graham Gubb of police national headquarters said the force was moving to the new cuffs "to accommodate people whose wrists are simply too big for our existing smaller sets".
"Who on the frontline can't tell a story about trying to arrest somebody who just won't fit into the standard handcuffs?"
