Police are treating the death of a 50-year-old man at a house in Taumarunui yesterday morning as suspicious.
Police were called about 7am yesterday to a flat in Para Street after the man's body was discovered.
A number of people had stayed at the house following a party the night before at which all the guests were known to each other.
Police put a cordon in place and forensics experts began a detailed scene examination.
Police investigating the death today said there had been good co-operation from the local community.
A post-mortem examination of the dead man is due to take place tomorrow and he is not expected to be formally identified before then.
Police have asked anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area on Friday night or Saturday morning to contact them.
