A second youngster offered a piece of cake by a stranger in west Auckland is expected to be spoken to by police today.
The girl was with a 12-year-old boy who became violently ill after eating a piece of the cake, thought to be laced with drugs, by the dreadlocked man on Monday.
Detective Sergeant Megan Goldie, from west Auckland police, said today the girl spat out the cake because she did not like the taste, otherwise she too could have become ill.
Police are still hunting the man, a Maori aged about 40 with dreadlocks nearly down to his waist.
The children were offered the cake while they walked along Universal Dr, Henderson.
After eating the cake the boy became disorientated and was vomiting, twitching, and extremely dizzy before he fell asleep.
When he failed to keep an appointment with his mother, she sent out a search party finding him two hours later.
She took him home and as he was too sick to tell her what happened she put him to bed.
Yesterday he told her about the cake and she took him to hospital where doctors alerted police.
Ms Goldie said police were waiting for the results of tests to find out what was in the cake.
