KEY POINTS:
Someone in the "criminal world" has contacted the Tauranga police to tell them where a body is buried.
Detective sergeant Darryl Brazier said they are not sure if the body is Darrell James Crawford, 35, or William Taikato, 40, both believed to have been murdered.
He said the information would be assessed to see how reliable it was and a decision of whether police would follow it up would be made next week.
Mr Brazier said the body was believed to be buried in a "rural location in Tauranga" but he would not elaborate.
"We've had a number of phone calls from a number of associates of the two but principally supplying us with background information," he said.
Police are still looking for the missing green Holden Commodore belonging to William Taikato.
