A protester who climbed a refrigeration company building on Auckland's North Shore early today and refused to come down was shot with a police taser gun.
The man climbed onto a balcony at the company's premises in Rosedale using a ladder and then pulled the ladder up with him.
Police said he had a gas torch and was threatening to harm himself.
After four hours he was shot with the taser, taken down and charged with trespass and assault with a weapon. Police said that up to seven officers police and a specialist negotiating team tried to coax the man down before the taser gun was used.
He was due to appear in court today.
