Police were today speaking to a 29-year-old man about his possible involvement in a series of robberies in Auckland over the past six months.
Police received several calls last night and this morning after releasing security surveillance pictures of a man they wanted to speak to.
"The callers nominated the same man and police executed search warrants at a city address late this morning," an Avondale CIB spokesman said in a statement today.
However, no arrests had been made in connection with the robberies, three of which occurred on Friday.
Police yesterday released a new image of the man they wanted to question, taken by a security camera at an ASB bank in Pt Chevalier shortly after Friday's first raid, an unsuccessful one at the BNZ at Auckland Airport.
The man went to the ASB in Mt Eden, which he tried to rob, again unsuccessfully.
Finally, he headed to the New Zealand Post building at Royal Oak, where he made off with an undisclosed amount of money.
Police were concerned the robber was becoming more aggressive, and on Friday showed a firearm to tellers.
