Nelson police ended a four-week hunt for a man facing firearms and explosives charges after swooping on a house in a Motueka camping ground yesterday.
The former Motueka man, 39, was to appear in Nelson District Court this morning.
Armed offenders squad officers caught the man at Fernwood Holiday Park at the south end of the town about 2.30pm.
Ten armed offenders squad members and eight police from Motueka and Richmond took part, Senior Sergeant Grant Andrews of Motueka police said.
" We believed that he was in the house and tried him on the phone with no response. Then we used a loudhailer."
No shots were fired and the man was arrested without a struggle.
