Police today stormed a property in Napier where they believed a meth lab was operating.
The armed offenders squad was called out to a house in Griffin Street, off Hyderabad Road in central Napier, early this afternoon.
Roads around the property were closed while police searched a house on the street.
Police said they had executed a search warrant relating to drugs and firearms. As a precautionary measure, the Armed Offenders Squad attended as there may have been firearms on the property.
Police said the search warrant was not in relation to the disappearance of Maka Renata. He is a convicted serial rapist who has breached his release conditions and is wanted in relation to a burglary in Napier last month.
