Police are still tallying up how many shots Jan Molenaar fired during the 51-hour siege of his Napier house, but they have mapped bullets landing as far as 180m away.
Molenaar fired more than 40 shots from inside the house and off his deck.
The shots went in all directions, hitting neighbours' houses and fences.
He also fired shots from his driveway and from the "hobbit house" that he had built in his back yard.
Police were reluctant to estimate how many shots Molenaar fired, but said each time he opened fire he made between two and 15 shots with an automatic weapon.
They are still investigating where Molenaar got the guns from. Claims were made last week that he stole the guns in 1988 when he left his six-year stint in the army territorials.
New Zealand Army spokesman Bas Bolyn said the Army would support police with their inquiries.
