Police are hoping a Swedish man reported missing in Queenstown nearly two weeks ago but since seen in the area will come forward.
Christoffer Tornberg, 23, was reported missing on October 18 by friends and work colleagues who had not seen him for nearly two weeks.
Police said they had spoken to two people who were confident they saw Mr Tornberg in central Queenstown on Saturday.
Mr Tornberg is in New Zealand on a 12-month working holiday visa and has lived in Queenstown for about year.
Detective Grant Miller said today he would still like to find Mr Tornberg, and would need to discuss his immigration status with him.
"I would talk to him and see if he would voluntarily go to immigration and sort out his visa issues," he told NZPA.
He believed the immigration issue was one of the reasons Mr Tornberg was not coming forward.
He had not contacted friends, family and work colleagues.
"He was definitely seen in the weekend, it's jut a bit odd, that's all."
Police said yesterday they wanted to ensure Mr Tornberg was all right, as his disappearance was out of character.
They were not seeking him for any criminal matters, but wanted to know his whereabouts to assist with immigration issues.
Mr Tornberg was described as European, 1.8m tall, with blue eyes and of medium build.
