KEY POINTS:
The search is continuing for a man who was seen to fall from a bridge in Hamilton in the early hours of this morning.
A team of police divers is due from Wellington to help with the search and the police boat has been out for several hours today scouring the Waikato River north of Bridge St, Hamilton .
Sergeant Roderick Smart from Hamilton Police said the team of divers has been brought in, as the man may be trapped under the surface of the river.
"We have already conducted a search of the river on foot and the search and rescue boat has also been out. But we have called the diving team in because of the depth and nature of the river.
"We're keen to talk to anyone who saw the man on the bridge between 1.10am and 1.25am. It was reported by a passer-by and the man was believed to be on his own.
"We would also be keen to hear from friends and relatives who may have realised he has gone missing," Mr Roderick said.
The man is described as a dark skinned male in his early 20's wearing clothing similar to black dress pants and a dark coloured shirt.
