Police speak to van driver after cyclist dies

The driver of a van is being spoken to by police after a crash in Christchurch last night left a cyclist dead.

The a 40-year-old victim was struck on High Street in Leeston, 43km south west of Christchurch about 8.40pm and died at the scene.

It was not yet known if the van driver would face any charges.

The name of the man would be released once next of kin had been informed, police said.
