Police are speaking to a man after a 23-year-old woman was stabbed with a knife at an Auckland suburban house today.
Police spent this morning visiting addresses in the Avondale area trying to locate the 36-year-old man who was known to the victim.
The man is now speaking with police.
The 23-year-old woman is in a serious condition in hospital and was undergoing surgery after she was stabbed several times about 2.40am at a house in Great North Road, Avondale.
Police are speaking with several occupants of the house and are conducting a scene examination as well as visiting neighbouring addresses in an attempt to identify further witnesses.
