Police have seized two cars after a man was stabbed on the outskirts of Alexandra last night.
Detective Senior Sergeant Colin Blackie of Alexandra police said the incident happened between 8pm and 8.30pm, leaving the 22-year-old victim in a serious but stable condition.
He was flown by helicopter to Dunedin Hospital and underwent surgery this morning. His condition is unknown.
Mr Blackie said the cars were seized after police executed a number of search warrants overnight in Alexandra. He said a number of other exhibits requiring forensic examination were also taken.
Police had spoken to a number of witnesses, and were continuing scene examinations. They were interested in any sightings of a dark Toyota Camry or a silver-grey Subaru car in Alexandra between 7pm and 8.30 yesterday.
