Police are continuing to seek a 17-year-old Masterton youth after a knife attack in the Wairarapa town of Eketahuna left a man needing 68 stitches.
Constable Warwick Hayes, of Pahiatua police, told NZPA the police were still "actively" trying to find Rex Ji Terangi Daley in connection with an incident in a house in Eketahuna, 36km north of Masterton.
Police called to the house about 9.50pm on Friday found a 28-year-old man outside with knife wounds to his neck, ear and shoulder.
The man was taken to Masterton Hospital where he had received 68 stitches before walking out of the hospital about 3am yesterday.
Police had traced the victim and interviewed him yesterday. He had been "a little evasive" and police were unsure why he had been attacked, Mr Hayes said.
Inside the Eketahuna house another person had been found with a minor cut to his neck, while a 14-year-old boy, believed to be the brother of the person being sought, had a knife wound between his thumb and finger.
Mr Hayes said police had not yet found a weapon.
