Police seek witnesses to Northern Motorway crash

Witnesses to a serious crash on the Northern Motorway near the Fanshaw St exit yesterday are being urged to contact the police.

The crash, which happened around 12.05pm, involved at least three cars and seriously injured one driver and moderately injured another.

"Police believe the crash may have occurred after an unidentified car stopped in lane five of six close to the Fanshaw St exit," police said.

"That vehicle is believed to have left the scene after the crash."

The crash blocked two southbound lanes to the Port and Cook St exits and access to the Northwestern Motorway.

It brought southbound traffic into central Auckland to a standstill.
