KEY POINTS:
Police want to speak with anyone who saw a black Toyota hatchback driving erratically through the Auckland CBD early this morning.
The car crashed into a barrier on the Northern Motorway near Onewa Road about 3.30am after travelling the wrong way over the Harbour Bridge in the city-bound lanes.
The female driver of the car was killed in the collision.
Two witnesses have come forward but Senior Constable Karl Bevin of the Waitemata Serious Crash Unit said police were now focusing on tracing the car's movements before the crash so they could ascertain where it entered the motorway.
"Someone must have seen this vehicle in the central CBD area travelling in the wrong direction, it would have been very distinctive," he said.
All southbound lanes on the Auckland Harbour Bridge have now been reopened.
Police are yet to make contact with the deceased's next of kin.
