Police are looking for witnesses to a Porirua hit-and-run which left a man with multiple fractures and lacerations to his legs
An 18-year-old Porirua man was struck by a vehicle while crossing a pedestrian crossing near the intersection of Mungavin Ave and McKillop Street at about 5.20pm yesterday, Detective Constable Sarah Waugh said.
The victim was left with multiple compound fractures and lacerations to his legs and is recovering in Wellington Hospital, Ms Waugh said.
The vehicle, believed to be a blue Toyota Rav 4, drove off and was seen a short time later on Lyttelton Avenue near McDonalds in Porirua, Ms Waugh said.
Police appealed to anyone who saw the hit-and-run or a person or people walking away from a blue Toyota Rav 4 near McDonalds on Lyttelton Ave sometime after 5.20pm to contact them.
