Counties Mankau police are appealing for sightings of a vehicle seen near a fatal crash in Pokeno last weekend.
One person died when their car collided with a median strip and a truck on the Southern Motorway near Pokeno, around 4.35am on Sunday 23 October.
Police said "moments before" the crash witnesses reported seeing a dark-coloured hatchback drive "alongside or in convoy" with the victim's car.
The crash occurred in the Southbound lanes between Razorback Rd and Nikau Rd.
"The dark-coloured hatch back didn't stop when the collision happened, and we'd like to hear from anyone who may have seen a car matching that description shortly before or after the crash," a police spokesperson said.
