KEY POINTS:
North Shore Police have recovered a slug gun and are speaking to two young people after at least two people were shot at from a car on East Coast Road in Castor Bay at about 3.20pm this afternoon.
An alert passing motorist rang police about the actions of the boys, who were located with a vehicle at a nearby address a short time later.
Police wish to speak to a woman jogger who was wearing a blue tee-shirt and was running uphill towards Forrest Hill and appeared to have been struck by a slug.
A boy of about five who was standing on the footpath at the Shell Service station on East Coast Road also appeared to have been struck and police wish to speak to them and to ensure any injuries the boy might have received are treated.
The boy was seen clutching his head and crying out when struck, but police were not able to locate him, or a girl of about eight who was with him, when they arrived a short time later.
The jogger, the family of the young boy and girl, or anyone else who witnessed the incidents or was shot at, are asked to contact police either at the North Shore Policing Centre or at Northern Communications Centre.
