Three men who kidnapped and bashed a man in the south Auckland town of Papakura last night are still on the loose.
Police said the trio approached the victim and demanded money as he got into his car behind the shops on Great South Road, Papakura, about 5.30pm.
He was then bundled into the vehicle which was driven off.
The man escaped a short distance down the road and was taken to the police station by a member of the public.
He was later taken to hospital for treatment to suspected facial fractures, lacerations and severe bruising to his face and legs.
Counties Manukau police appealed to anyone with information about the attack to call them.
They also appealed for help in tracing the victim's car, a white 1998 Honda Integra, registered number DGF272.
