At least one person fled the scene of a fatal crash in Auckland's Onehunga last night and police believe they were picked up by another car.
Inspector Kerry Watson said a stolen Nissan Pulsar crashed into an Arthur Street house about 10pm.
Three people were left in the car - a dead female who had yet to be identified - and two girls aged 16 and 17.
At least one person fled the scene and could have been picked up by a second vehicle, which was travelling with the Nissan.
It was not known if the two vehicles were racing.
"Police are seeking information leading to the identity of the other vehicle and persons that have run from the stolen car," Mr Watson said.
"The person/s that have run from the vehicle may have noticeable injuries and may require medical attention.'"
The teenage girls left in the car were in serious but stable conditions in Auckland Hospital.
The stolen car was taken from Watea Road, in Mount Roskill.
