KEY POINTS:
Police are concerned about the behaviour of a man who "spooked" a Wellington intermediate school student by following her.
Detective Simon Humphries, of Porirua CIB, said police wanted to hear from anyone who saw a man, described as Indian, acting suspiciously near Victory Crescent and Davidson Crescent, Tawa, after school on Wednesday afternoon, August 27.
Mr Humphries said a young Tawa Intermediate girl was followed by the man from Victory Crescent and up a walkway to Davidson Crescent about 3.30pm.
"The way in which the man followed the student was a bit odd," he said.
"She was certainly spooked by his behaviour and it was only when she reached the safety of a group of friends that he left her and walked off.
"There was no assault involved but the young girl was shaken by the man's actions."
Police want to hear from anyone who saw the man in the Tawa area between 3pm and 4pm on August 27.
The man was described as Indian, early 20s, of medium build, tall and with short dark hair. He was wearing dark-coloured jeans and a dark t-shirt. He also had on black shoes and was carrying a black back pack.
Anyone who could help identify the man should contact Porirua police on (04) 238 1400.
