KEY POINTS:
Palmerston North police are hunting for a man after a stabbing in the city on Saturday morning.
Detective Glenda Barnaby said the 41-year-old victim was walking along Tremaine Avenue near Highbury Avenue.
A white vehicle - possibly a Toyota Corolla - stopped and a stocky Maori, aged in his 30s, got out and stabbed the victim in the chest with a knife.
Police believe the offender was at the Cloverlea Tavern earlier and had been involved in an unrelated "scuffle" in the car park.
Police would like to hear from anyone who saw the stabbing or saw a white vehicle in the area between 1am and 2am.
