KEY POINTS:
Christchurch police are looking for a man who tried to rob a dairy at knife-point last night.
Detective Sergeant Dorothy McPhail from Papanui CIB said a man carrying a large kitchen knife entered a dairy in Harewood about 8.30pm.
He demanded money from the female shop assistant.
She told him she would get him some cash and went into a room at the rear of the shop, Ms McPhail said.
The man had gone when the shop assistant returned.
He was described as a male Caucasian of medium build, aged in his 20s.
He was wearing a grey hoodie and dark coloured trousers. He had a scarf covering part of his face.
