Police are appealing for information about a knifeman who stabbed a man as he walked down one of Christchurch's four avenues with his girlfriend last night.
The 18-year-old man was walking down Fitzgerald Ave with his girlfriend and another friend about 11.40pm when they were approached by a man on the corner of Tuam St and Fitzgerald Ave.
During the fight which followed he was stabbed in the forearm with a knife before the attacker ran down St Asaph St.
Detective Joel Syme, of Christchurch police, said the offender was Polynesian, aged 15-25, with a medium build and facial hair. He wore dark jeans and a dark hoody.
The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance and received several stitches.
