KEY POINTS:
Police were today seeking to identify a man whose body was found on an Auckland hill early yesterday.
The man's death was not considered suspicious, Detective Sergeant Len Leleni, of Mangere CIB, said.
The body was found at 6.30am on the northeastern slopes of Mangere mountain, about 100m from the summit.
The deceased was described as Maori or Polynesian, about 15 to 22 years old, 1.75m tall and of medium build.
He was wearing black trousers, a navy baseball cap with "sep.2" in light blue printing, beige calf-length socks, black "Chuck Taylor" shoes and a white T-shirt with black printing and a picture of Tu Pac and Bob Marley.
He also had a silver chain necklace with dog tags, a gold bracelet on his right wrist and an earring in his left ear.
